A process audit analyses end to end how work gets done in your company: which steps are followed, who performs them, how long they take and where errors, delays or duplications occur. It detects hidden inefficiencies and redundant manual tasks that consume time and money. Its benefits are lower operating costs, higher productivity, fewer errors and a solid foundation for successful digitalisation and automation.

As-Is analysis documents how your processes work today, as they are actually carried out, through interviews, observation and modelling in standard BPMN notation. To-Be analysis defines how they should work after optimisation: simplified flows, clear responsibilities, tasks eliminated or automated and better controls. Comparing the two clearly shows the time and cost savings, and the action plan to reach the target model.

Because automating an inefficient process only gets things done badly, faster. If you digitalise a flow with unnecessary steps, duplicate approvals or poor-quality data, you carry those problems over to the new system and the return on investment shrinks. We first redesign the process using continuous improvement and Lean principles, and then assess which tasks are candidates for automation with RPA or artificial intelligence.

We assess each process by its volume, frequency, level of standardisation, number of systems involved, data quality and current error rate. With that information we estimate the hours saved, the cost of automation and the return on investment (ROI) of each case. The result is a prioritised list of automation opportunities, starting with those that deliver the greatest impact for the least effort.

A process audit combines interviews, workshops and expert analysis to understand the complete process, including tasks performed outside the systems: emails, phone calls, Excel spreadsheets or paperwork. Process mining automatically reconstructs processes from the event logs of digital systems. They are complementary: the audit provides context and business knowledge, and process mining provides objective measurement at scale.
